More than 200 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County Friday

Two additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Friday reported 203 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and two new deaths, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 90s. There were 169 new cases reported Thursday.

Kane County has now seen 55,291 total cases of the virus and 752 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 86 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 7.2%. Currently, 23% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average stayed flat at 8.4% and DuPage County’s decreased to 6.6%.

Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,866 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 21 additional deaths Friday. The IDPH received the results of 93,602 tests leading up to Friday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.2%.

Illinois now has seen 1,296,381 total cases of the virus, and 21,630 people have died.
