Ottawa woman found dead at Heidecke Lake near Morris

The Grundy County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of an Ottawa woman, whose vehicle was found in the water Saturday at Heidecke Lake, southeast of Morris.

The 26-year-old Ottawa woman’s vehicle was discovered partially submerged, near the boat ramps, by hunters shortly before 5:30 a.m.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Grundy County Coroner John Callahan. The identity of the woman is being withheld, pending notification of her family.

The death remains under investigation by the Grundy County Coroner’s Office, Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Illinois State Police.
