DuPage County reports 143 COVID-19 cases Monday, 1 death, region’s positivity rate decreases to 6.5%

The DuPage County Health Department on Monday reported 143 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a woman in her 50s.

The county now has seen a total of 86,485 coronavirus cases including 1,314 deaths, according to the health department.

DuPage County has administered 669,585 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 268,289 people, or 28.89% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 89 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.5%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average went down to 8.0%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 5.8%.

Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,959 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 22 additional deaths Monday and a total of 8,119,867 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

For Sunday, 65,233 COVID-19 shots were administered. Monday is the first time there were fewer than 2,000 new virus cases announced in a single day since March 29.

By town, Wheaton has had X,XXX total cases, Glen Ellyn X,XXX, Lombard X,XXX, Villa Park X,XXX, Hinsdale XXX, Westmont X,XXX, Darien XXX, Woodridge X,XXX, Downers Grove X,XXX, Elmhurst X,XXX, Warrenville XXX and Winfield XXX. Addison has had X,XXX confirmed cases, Naperville X,XXX, Carol Stream X,XXX and West Chicago X,XXX.
