Don Kithcart, 58, of Sterling, is an office clerk at the Sterling Public Works Department and also works part time in the catalog department at J.C. Penney in Northland Mall. He has three brothers, Charles Kithcart, 53, of Sterling, Kenneth Kithcart, 49, of Rock Falls, and Gary Kithcart, 55, of Normal, and a sister-in-law, Jill Scheunemann, 40, of Marshfield, Wis.

On-the-job lesson: Be patient, calm and understanding. It helps when working with residents or customers who have issues, and they appreciate it.

Alma mater: I graduated in 1969 from Rock Falls High School. I graduated from Sauk Valley Junior College in 1978 with an associate degree in applied science – data processing.

Philosophy: What goes around comes around. When you do something for someone, it always comes back to you.

Oughta be a law: Anyone guilty of a crime, beyond a shadow of a doubt, should pay the price without getting off through some loophole or technicality.

Hearts: Hanging out with family or friends. I have numerous music CDs, and I like  "Supernatural," "The Mentalist," "Castle," "Smallville," and "Two and a Half Men."

Darts: People talking on cell phones while driving and not paying attention to the road.

Haunts: Friends' homes, restaurants and the mall.

Heroes: All the men and women, living or dead, who have fought for our country, so we can live free.

First job: I worked at Bakerite Bakery in Rock Falls when I was 17. It was OK except for having to get up early in the morning.

First car: A 1962 Chevrolet II when I was 19.

People say I look like: Some people thought I looked like Elton John.

Phobias: Heights and snakes.

Guilty pleasure: Frosted sugar cookies.

I'd like to meet: Elvis Presley.

In the dictionary next to: Easygoing.

Trading places: I'd like to be Scott Shumard, Sterling's city manager, just to experience what his duties are on a typical working day.

Trading spaces: I'd like to visit England. My ancestors are from England.

Best thing about Sterling: It's not a large city and not a small village, just the right size, and everything I need is right here.

Shout out: To my family, and my friends at the city and Penney's.
