POLO – Bertha E. Bass, 76, of Polo, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at her home. She was employed by Dixon State School for 6 years before retiring.
Mrs. Bass was born Nov. 23, 1933, in Dixon, the daughter of Robert and Opal White.
She married Ernest Bass on June 16, 1982, in Dixon.
Survivors include nine sons, David (Donna) Geiger of Amboy, Ronald Ross of Chicago, Edward (Deb) Ross of West Virginia, Kevin (Emily) Ross of Clinton, Iowa, Keith (Angela) Ross of Prophetstown, Kory (Rose) Bass of Milledgeville, Pete Bass of Polo, James Bass of Mount Sterling, Aaron Bass of Prophetstown; five daughters, Sandra (Harold) McCloud of Rock Falls, Julia Ross of Polo, Veronica (Wendell Provow) Williams of Amboy, Dalene (Michael) Jensen of Dixon, and Julia (Jesse) Bass of Freeport; one brother, John Geiger of Rock Falls; two sisters, Vera Fordham of Rock Falls and Stella Young of Ashton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Colein Cumby; three brothers; and two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, with the Rev. Dr. Vincent O. Marrandino, director of pastoral care at KSB Hospital, officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.
