LANARK – Beatrice E. “Bea” Grant, 82, of Lanark, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, with her loving family at her side.

Mrs. Grant was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Shannon, the daughter of Basil and Edythe (Rees) Rinard. She married Harold J. Grant on May 4, 1947, at First Lutheran Church, Freeport, by Rev. Charles Landrvere.

Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1995.

She graduated from Polo High School. She was a homemaker; owned Bea’s Pizza Place, Lanark; worked as a waitress; and managed the Green Giant Lunch Stand.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark. She served on Altar Guild, Christian Service Committee, the church’s 125th anniversary committee, Eastland Council of Churches, women’s group, and church council.

She also served as financial secretary for several years. She and her husband assisted with the formation of the Blackhawk Sam Camping Club.

She loved her family, church family, family dinners, being with her grandchildren, and going to their numerous activities and camping.

Mrs. Grant is survived by two daughters, Linda Grant of Prophetstown and Cindy (Shelvan) Heid of McConnell; three sons, Micheal Grant of Jarrell, Texas, and Edward Grant and Kenneth (Ardena) Grant, both of Lanark; 11 grandchildren, Marty (Lucy) Grant of Byron, Jill (Wendell Ebersole) Queckboerner of Chadwick, Paul Grant of Milledgeville, Justin (Nichole) Heid of McConnell, Shawn (Abbie) Heid of Pearl City, Ashlee (Joshua McCarthy) Heid of Peoria, Edward (Angie) Grant Jr. of Montgomery, Brock (Kathy) Grant of Albuquerque, N.M., Scott Grant and Eric Grant, both of Fulton, and Keri (Gary) Kramer of Clinton, Iowa; four step-grandchildren, Audrey LaPuma of Rhinelander, Wis., Wilferd Tobias and Randy Webie Jr., both of Tomahawk, Wis., and Charlene (Ron Matson) Labarge of Wausau, Wis.; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Forrest Harris of Mount Morris, Arlene Callahan of Castle Dale, Utah, and Joann Grant of Polo; one brother-in-law, Pete Powell of Polo; one aunt, Darlene Jacobs of Sterling; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Richard and Donald Rinard; two sisters-in-law, Bernice and Helene Rinard; and one step-great-grandson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Polo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Russell-Frank Funeral Home, Lanark.

Memorials have been established to Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark, and Lanark Fire Department.
