AMBOY – Cathy A. Wheeler, 61, of Amboy, formerly of Aurora, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at KSB Hospital.

Cathy was born April 3, 1949, in Aurora, the daughter of Jack and Eunice (Alcorn) Tavegia. She was a homemaker and mother.

Cathy worked for BRK Electronics, Aurora, and System Sensor, Batavia; and also drove a school bus for Rich Lee Vans, Aurora. She enjoyed her beloved German shepherd, Tasha.

Survivors include three sons, Leo (Michelle) Wheeler of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Fred (Andrea) Wheeler Jr., and William (Maranda) Wheeler, both of Amboy; 13 grandchildren, Zachary Wheeler, Trina Beatty, Mavrick Kipper, Fantasia Kipper, Dominick Wheeler, Anthony, Thaddeus, Skylar, and Seth Wheeler, and Corrine, Nicholas, Mercadise, and Liberty Wheeler; one great-granddaughter, Alina Beatty; one brother, James (Diane) Tavegia of Georgia; one sister, Dee (Joseph) Jacob of Oregon; special friend, Fred Wheeler of Iowa; and very special cousin, Susan Tyrell of Dixon. She also was a “Mama Cassie” to Kelly, Scott, and Joe.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, with the Rev. Joe Dunham officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In honor of Cathy, casual attire is requested.
