FORRESTON – Lauren T. Binkley, 66, of Forreston, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. He and his wife, Gretchen, owned and operated Binkley Excavating Co.
Lauren was born April 20, 1945, in Freeport, the son of Tommy Jacob and Florence (Frey) Binkley. He married Gretchen Ulferts on Aug. 27, 1988, in Dixon. Lauren was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon. Lauren loved his family, and loved spending time with his pets and birds.
Survivors include his wife, Gretchen, and one son, Tod (Linda) Binkley, both of Forreston; two grandsons, Mitchell Troy and Matthew Tod; one brother, Marvin (Beverly) Binkley of Rochelle; his mother-in-law, Nora Lee Binkley, of Swannanoa, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Troy Binkley; and one sister, Marjorie DeKoning.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon. Cremation rites will be accorded. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Janet Wittenmeyer, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon,
