GALESBURG (AP) – Four additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in a crowded park in the western Illinois community of Galesburg.
Police say 21-year-old Jemell Ware was shot June 30 in Kiwanis Park and was pronounced dead a short time later at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. They say they do not believe Ware was armed.
A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody shortly after the shooting.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested two Galesburg men in Chicago. Another man turned himself in to Chicago-area authorities later in the day.
The fourth suspect was arrested in Galesburg.
Police are still searching for one more suspect, a 23-year-old Galesburg man.
