Margaret R. Sprague

DIXON – Margaret R. Sprague, 91, of Dixon, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Aug. 4, 1919, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Jesse and Amy (McCann) Butterfield. She married August “Bud” Sprague on June 8, 1945, in Waukon, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1970.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis (Joan) Sprague of Dixon and Clifford Sprague of Watauga, Texas; two daughters, Barb Bray of Amboy and Sharon (Leo) Stage of Phoenix; one sister, Patricia Bernier of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patsy Willenberg; three brothers, Raymond, James and Richard Butterfield; one sister, Irene “Ike” Houghtaling; and a special friend, Ed Frappier.

Graveside service will be at a later date at Mormon-Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse, Wis. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon. A memorial has been established.
