Connie S. Meyer

ROCK FALLS – Connie S. Meyer, 61, of Rock Falls, lost her extensive battle with cancer Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. She had worked as a beautician in Kewanee and Sheffield for a brief period, and was a certified nurse’s aide for several years in the Sterling-Rock Falls area, until her retirement Dec. 25, 2010.

She was born Aug. 20, 1950, in Kewanee, the daughter of Vernon and Lois (Holman) Hansen. She graduated in 1968 from Manlius High School and then went on to complete beauty school. On Sept. 6, 1970, she married Ronald A. Meyer. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was one of the most caring and giving person.

Surviving are her husband, Ron of Rock Falls; her daughter, Tina (Noel Fullington) Meyer-Castro of Sterling; grandsons, Quinten and Zachery Castro; stepgrandchildren Brittani, Jordan, Colten, Cortlyn and Tiana; a great-granddaughter due Oct. 22, 2011; her brother, Vernon “Bud” (Deb) Hansen of West Dundee; sisters-in-law, Peg (Jack) O’Hare and Pat Snowden; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Lois; her in-laws, Alvin Meyer, Lyla Meyer and Ruth Meyer; her sister-in-law, Joy Meyer Haub; and her nephew, Rodney Snowden.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Dalmus Meeks will officiate.

A memorial will be established.
