Batavia man charged with possessing child porn

BATAVIA – A 63-year-old Batavia man has been charged with possessing child pornography.

Danny L. Clifford, of the 400 block of Park Street, Batavia, was charged with 14 counts of aggravated child pornography, a felony charge that can be applied to those who possess, distribute or manufacture pornographic images featuring children under the age of 13.

Investigators from the Batavia and Geneva police departments raided Clifford's home at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, the Batavia Police said in a release announcing the arrest.

Police said they were acting on information they received through the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children unit of the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Police said they seized several computers and "hundreds" of DVDs and CDs.

Clifford then was taken into custody and charged.

He was scheduled to appear in court on a bond hearing Friday.
