ROCK FALLS – Barbara J. Fisher, 82, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Polo Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after a long journey with Alzheimer’s. She worked at Sears and retired after 20 years.

Barbara was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Sterling, the daughter of James H. and Dorothy E. (Leseman) Myers. She married William “Wes” W. Fisher on Oct. 11, 1947, in Sterling. Barbara graduated from Milledgeville High School in 1947.

Barbara was a lifetime member of First Christian Church of Sterling. She was a longtime member of The Tops Club and enjoyed socializing with the “girls.” One of Barbara’s most enjoyable times was spending the winters with her husband in Texas. She was wonderful at baking cakes and making candy, which everyone enjoyed and admired her for. Barbara was a beautiful seamstress, sewing clothes for her children as they were growing up, making bridesmaid dresses for her oldest daughter’s wedding and the wedding dress for her first married daughter. She was a lifelong animal lover. Barbara cared deeply for her family and was always a hardworking and vital person. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Survivors include her husband, William W. Fisher of Rock Falls; one son, Steven (William Trelease) Fisher of Streator; four daughters, Marsha (Mark) Piper of Grand Detour, Patricia Boyer of Dixon, Sheryl (Mark Wolf) Frey of Rock Falls and Nancy (Tom) Powers of Cleburne, Texas; eight grandchildren, Phillip Hoff, Stacey (Andrew) Morris, Jennifer Hoff, Nicole Cassiberry, Tiffany (Ryan) Clark-Grove, Seth (Jamie) Frey, Abigail McMillin and Lauren McMillin; two stepgrandchildren, Grant Powers and Alex Powers; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Johnson of Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter in infancy, Paige McMillin; one brother in childhood, Clarence Myers; and her half brothers, Herbert Ryan and Harold Miller.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Yonker of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church and to Happy Tails Humane Society, both in Sterling.
