Sandbergs celebrate 40th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sandberg of 12173 Illinois Highway 26, Princeton, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Jim Sandberg and the former Peg Carlson were married Jan. 29, 1972, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. Brad Dall was best man and Sue (Carlson) Cunningham was matron of honor. Peg is the daughter of Edward and Iola Carlson, and Jim is the son of Albert and Dorothy Sandberg. They made their first home in Normal, Ill.

They are the parents of two children, Elise Sandberg (Michael) Bartman of Germantown Hills and Sara Sandberg (Shane) Kloepping of Princeton. They also have six grandchildren, Kelsey Bartman, Kyle Bartman, and Nathan Bartman, all of Germantown Hills, and Kennedy Kloepping, Nolan Kloepping and Brinley Kloepping, all of Princeton.

Jim retired in 2007 as a 35-year industrial electrician. Peg retired in 2010 as a special education and fourth-grade teacher in the Princeton Elementary School District. They are active in St. Louis Catholic Church and volunteer at “Our Table” and PADS Homeless Shelter. Their hobbies also include hunting and golfing. Peg remains an active substitute teacher.

The couple will celebrate with a trip to Michigan and a later trip to Cinque Terre, Italy.
