Morris softball got just two hits in an 8-0 loss to Sycamore on Thursday. Morgan Akre and Leah Lines had both hits for the Redskins.
Akre got the loss in the circle, giving up just one earned run.
The Redskins are now 5-8 and 1-2 in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East.
Minooka 4,
Plainfield South 0
Jackie Lilek threw seven scoreless innings for the Indians, striking out six. She is now 4-1.
Offensively, Lilek was 3 for 4 with a home run for the Indians. Mikayla Melone and Jordyn Larsen also hit homers. Sara Novak was 1 for 3 with a run scored and Kelsey Smith finished 1 for 3.
The Indians frosh-soph team lost 7-2 to Plainfield South. Caty Bell had a home run.

Grant Park 7
Gabby Bonic had a three-run homer for the Lady Coalers, finishing with three hits and six RBIs. Maddy Bunton added three hits and three RBIs while Molly Manietta added three hits and two RBIs.
Morgan Youskevtch was the winning pitcher for Coal City, who is now 9-4.
GSW 11,

Emily Foley was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers, striking out nine to improve to 1-2. She allowed one walk and three hits.
At the plate, Katie Gretz went 2 for 3 with a home run, triple, RBI and three runs scored for GSW. Emily Foley was 1 for 2 with three runs scoring, Lexi Posing 2 for 4 with a run scored and three RBIs, and Kailyn Schultz 1 for 3 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Sophie Barna went 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.
"Emily did a very good job on the mound tonight, getting her first win of the season," GSW coach Michelle Lardi said. "We really got the bats going in the beginning and continued to hit throughout the game. All together, we did an all-around good job tonight."
GSW is now 4-10.
BASEBALL
Coal City 8,
Clifton Central 0
Sophomore lefty Nate Chapman was the winning pitcher for the Coalers in the non-conference victory. He went all seven innings, allowing two walks while striking out five.
Offensively, Brandon Tidaback had two hits and two runs scored, Cody Onsen and Nate Natyshok each had a double and a single and Lane Cowherd had a double.
Coal City is 8-8.
The Coalers' frosh-soph team beat Clifton Central 10-8. D.J. Budde was 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs for Coal City, while Brennen Shetina went 2 for 4 with an inside the park home run and three RBIs. Zack Scerine was 2 for 4 with a run, double and two RBIs.
Budde got the win, giving up three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Plainfield South 14,
Minooka 3
Carson Neushwander was 1 for 2 with a triple and an RBI for the Indians.
TJ Condon took the loss, giving up four earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. He struck out two.
The Minooka sophomores beat Plainfield South 11-0. Tyler Desmarais was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Indians and Neal Tyrell was 2 for 4 with a double, single and three RBIs. Mike Cappel went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Brennan Polcyn was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Todd Hoffart was the winning pitcher for the Indians, giving up no earned runs in five innings, finishing with four strikeouts.
The Indians' freshmen team beat Plainfield East 11-2. Kenny Walsh was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Indians.
Austin Thompson got the win, throwing a complete game without an earned run.

Ben Trainor threw a complete game, giving up four earned runs in Dwight's win. At the plate, Alec Frazier went 4 for 4 with two doubles a triple and five RBIs for the Trojans. Jake Wardell was 4 for 5 with two RBIs

Matt Darlington had the game-winning hit for Morris, singling in Grant Schluntz in the bottom of the eighth.
Schluntz was 3 for 4 with a double and a home run. Tim Smyk went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Matt Bernickus got the win on the mound in relief. Nick Evola started, giving up one earned run in seven innings.
The Redskins are now 11-3 and 3-0 in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East.

Thomas Chesareck was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for the Redskins. Justin McTague was 1 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Jake Wantland got the win, giving up four earned runs in four innings pitched to improve to 2-1.

The Lady Coalers picked up their third conference win in a row with the victory.
Alisha Johnson and Brynna Borgra had the goals for Coal City, with Borgra's coming on a penalty kick.
Sarah Sirovy had 19 saves for Coal City, giving up just the one goal.
The Coalers are now 5-1-2 and 3-0 in the Interstate Eight.
Minooka 3,
Oswego East 1
The Indians got their first win of the season, getting goals from Jill Hetfleisch, Brittni Viehman and Jerri Torres. Hetfleisch's goal was her seventh of the season.
Alysha Alonzo had three assists for Minooka.
The Indians are now 1-6-3.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Rick Bishop had seven kills for the Indians, and finished with six digs. Maalik Walker had six kills and four blocks, while Phil Hannon finished with 19 assists and two digs.
Minooka's freshmen A team lost to Oswego, 25-16, 25-11. Jake Wietting had three kills and four digs for the Indians, Alex Caraynoff had 12 digs.
The Indians' freshmen B team lost to Oswego, 25-16, 25-10. Remi Nassar had four digs for Minooka.
