WALNUT – Pamela R. Smith, 56, of Walnut, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at her home. She was a first-grade and special education teacher for more than 30 years at Walnut Grade School and Bureau Valley North.
Pam was born Nov. 3, 1955, in Macomb, the daughter of Lee and Ruthe (Marshall) Hare. She married Kevin Smith on May 20, 1978, at St. John Catholic Church of Walnut.
She is survived by her husband of Walnut; one daughter, Justin (Darrin) Frank of Annawan; two sons, Zack Smith of Tempe, Ariz., and Patrick Smith of Walnut; four grandchildren; her father, Lee Hare of Macomb; three sisters, Jamie (Bill) Allen of Dublin, Ohio, Kim (Mike) Mareth of Homestead, Fla., and Jodi (Kevin) Hare-Paynter of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, and one nephew.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Shaw, pastor of St. John Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery.
A memorial scholarship fund is being established.
