STERLING – Charles R. “Chuck” Dodson, 79, of Sterling, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at his home. He was a welder for RB&W before retiring.

Charles was born March 18, 1933, in Mount Vernon, the son of Burrell and Fern (Phillips) Dodson. He married Donna Adams on Nov. 28, 1957, in Mount Vernon. Charles attended First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling. He was a member of the Rock River Carvers, Swing Stars Square Dance Club, Otaga Campground and Pharaohs Hot Rod Club in Mount Vernon.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; one daughter, Cheri (Dave) Lockhart of Sterling; two sons, Gregory (Nancy) Dodson of Kingwood, Texas, and Bradley (Crystal) Dodson of Rock Falls; one sister, JoAnn Lehde of Spring Hill, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sarah Dodson of Rock Falls, and Justin and Luke Dodson, both of Kingwood; and two stepgrandchildren, Justin Bushman of Rock Falls and Jessica Bushman of Galva.

He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Bruce Dodson; two sisters; and five brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Hasselbring of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
