CLINTON, Iowa – Daniel B. “Dan” Hague, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. He worked at Climax Company, later Waukesha Motors, and retired as a service manager at Dresser in 1986.

Dan was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Sterling, the son of Fred and Effie (Harmon) Hague. He married Lucile Walbridge on Oct. 4, 1941, in Camanche. Dan attained the rank of staff sergeant as a wire chief with the 548th Night Fighter Squadron in the Army Air Force in the South Pacific during World War II. He saw ground combat on Iwo Jima.

He was an avid pool player, having been a two-time winner of the Midwest Billiards Championship. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his cat, Sugar.

Dan is survived by his wife, Lucille; four children, Rose Marie (Fred) Kamrath of Tiskilwa, Linda Kay (Joe) Henry of Clinton, Dan (Donna) Hague of Miami and Barbara Ann McReynolds of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; sister, Katie Moore of Sterling; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, a great-grandson, four brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial with military honors by AMVETS will be at Springdale Cemetery in Clinton. Casket bearers will be Tad and Jeff Morrison, Joe Henry, Gerry Rocca and John Hutch.
