Sonia Warling of Princeton is announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of her son, Phillip, of Kansas City, Mo., to Kathryn Friedlund of Kansas City, Mo. Phillip is also the son of the late John Warling. Kathryn is the daughter of Marianne and Scott Friedlund of Parkville, Mo.

The bride received her Bachelor of Science in Business Communication in 2011 from Northern Illinois University. She is employed by TransAm Trucking as a human resource administrator.

Her fiancé received his Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication in 2010 from Northern Illinois University. He is employed by FedEx SmartPost as an operations manager.

The couple will be married May 27 in Kansas City, Mo.
