‘Next stage’ reached

Faculty members Carlson, Crose, Locke announce retirement

Three Morris Community High School faculty members — Robert Carlson, Todd Crose and Darcel Locke — are ready to enter “the next stage” of life … retirement.

These three individuals have accumulated 93 years of combined teaching experience.

Mr. Carlson has taught for 24 years, 20 of them at MCHS. His favorite course to teach was ESL (English as a Second Language). Mr. Carlson helped his students to communicate in English and then learn their subjects in English. He is looking forward to researching his family’s genealogy and traveling with his wife during retirement. He reminds those he is leaving behind to “keep the mind active, don’t stop learning!”

Mr. Crose has taught for 34 years; 33 at MCHS District 101 and 1 year at District 54. His favorite courses to teach were physical education and drivers education. He is looking forward to “no set schedule, no daily homework or preparation every night for the next day!” Mr. Crose has aspirations to write a book or two. He is looking forward to having the time to be a better husband, father, and grandfather. He will keep busy with some landscaping, lawn mowing business, making baseball instructional and coaching films, and maybe getting back in to coaching as an instructional assistant and strategist.

Darcell Locke has taught for 35 years at MCHS. She has enjoyed teaching literature, grammar and writing. Mrs. Locke is excited to travel with her husband, visit family out of state and spend time with her friends.
