Bret McKee

SPRING VALLEY — Bret Dale McKee, 45, of 231 E. St. Paul St., Spring Valley, passed away at his home on Monday, July 30, 2012.

Mr. McKee was born July 3, 1967, in Spring Valley to Dale and Marilyn (Russell) McKee. He was a graduate of Ladd Grade School, attended Malden High School and graduated from Hall High School. He attended Northern Illinois University for two years. He managed Princeton Oil Wizard for many years and was a supervisor for the packing line at the Monterey Mushroom Plant. He had also worked for the Teen Challenge office in Chicago where he earned the Gold Plaque award. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, cars, farming, and watching his nieces' and nephews' ballgames.

Mr. McKee is survived by his parents of rural Princeton; two brothers, Todd (Linda) McKee of Malden and Russell (Kim) McKee of Peru; his nieces and nephews, Blake and Madelyne McKee, and Kelly and Whitney Grabill; two great-nephews, Alec and Evan Vecchia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd, with the Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in the Berean Cemetery in rural Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home. A Rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m.

Pall bearers will be Carl Walter, Ross Pinter, Michael and Daniel Fusinato, Alan Merkel and Howard Phillips.
