William A. ‘Bill’ Cardwell

ROCK FALLS – William A. “Bill” Cardwell, 63, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born Dec. 12, 1948, in Logan, W.Va., the son of Ralph and Mary Ellen (Edmondson) Cardwell. He married Linda Pratt on Dec. 7, 1968, in Rock Falls. Bill worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling. After its closure, he opened C&K Under Car Specialists in Sterling. Bill was a loving husband, and the best dad and grandpa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and mountains, and was a NASCAR fan.

Surviving are his wife, Linda, his daughter, Michelle (Jim) Kraklio, and his son, Billy “BJ” Cardwell, all of Rock Falls; his mother, Mary Ellen Cardwell; his brother, Gordon (Rita) Cardwell of Harmon; and his grandchildren, Derek, Megan, Brent and Riley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of his life at 11 a.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
