John S. Boland

MORRISON – John S. Boland, 97, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison. He farmed in Whiteside and Clark counties, and before that was an assistant farm adviser for the Whiteside County Farm Bureau.

John was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Paris, Ill., the son of Chester Risser and Olive (Swank) Boland. He married Marjorie Hammer on June 4, 1939, in Morrison. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1995. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son, John Richard (Diane) Boland of Coarsegold, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Mary K. (Don) Heinzel of Peoria; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Lee Boland; and a brother, Howard Chester Boland.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morrison United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Schenck, pastor, and Steve Harmon, pastor of Open Bible Fellowship in Morrison, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
