Stella Eiler

PRINCETON — Stella Opal Comerford Eiler, 94, of Princeton, a native of Pana, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

She was born Oct. 26, 1918, in Pana, the daughter of Phillip Comerford and Rosa Eck Comerford. She married Homer Eiler on Feb. 4, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. He died May 8, 2012.

Opal was a farm wife and ran Opal's Beauty Shop in Princeton for 20 years. She and her husband also operated the Avalon Club in Princeton for many years. She was a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau and the Bureau County Taxpayers Association. She enjoyed tending to and buying the animals on their farm.

She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, twins Victor and Vergil Comerford, Merrit "Bunker" Comerford and Lawrence Comerford; and three sisters, O'Dessa Peifer, Louanna Comerford and Marcella Comerford, as a child.

Graveside services were held Monday in the Greenwood Cemetery, Bureau, with the Rev. Jon Olinger officiating. All services were private and there was no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
