CICERO — A Cicero man has been charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly gunned down a teenager from Cicero on Wednesday.
Cicero police said Victor Torres, 21, of 1315 S. 59th Ave., Apt. 2, allegedly shot Norberto Lara, 17, of 1528 S. 50th Ave., in retaliation for a previous argument of a domestic nature at 7:24 p.m. in Torres' home.
Lara and Torres had been in a physical fight at the apartment before Torres allegedly returned with a loaded handgun and shot Lara repeatedly "about the body," according to a news release.
Lara died from his injuries inflicted by the gunshots at the scene, police said.
Police arrived at Torres' apartment minutes later and Torres was arrested outside. Investigators collected evidence, including a handgun believed to be the murder weapon. Fourteen shots were fired from a .40-caliber M&P Smith and Wesson, police said.
Detectives interviewed witnesses who gave testimony regarding the incident, police said. After a review by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, a first-degree murder charge was approved.
Torres appeared in bond court Friday morning and was ordered held without bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Department.
