BARTLETT — DuPage County Sheriff John E. Zaruba announced Friday the arrest of a former Bartlett resident who has been charged with burglary to storage units in an unincorporated near Hanover Park.
David A. Udaundo, a 41-year-old homeless man, has been charged with 27 counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony. He was formerly of the 900 block of Balsam Lane in Bartlett.
Sheriff’s detectives have been investigating the burglaries that occurred between April 1 and June 15 at the Cubesmart Storage at 25W630 Army Trail Road in unincorporated DuPage County near Hanover Park. During that time period, sheriff’s deputies took reports from victims of the 27 individual storage units that were burglarized.
This yearlong investigation led to the arrest of Udaundo, who was charged with one count for each person he is accused of victimizing. The total loss to the victims is unknown at this time due to the value and the amount of items that were taken.
Udaundo is in the DuPage County Jail and was expected to be in bond court Friday morning. At this time, no further information is available regarding this incident.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office reminds readers that any charges indicated in this document are merely accusations, and the listed defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
