WALNUT – Doris M. Albrecht, 93, of Donaldson, Ind., formerly of Maytown, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Catherine Kasper Life Center in Donaldson.
Doris was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Jump River, Wis., the daughter of Sylvester J. and Iona H. (Widman) Hiss. She was united in marriage to Floyd W. Albrecht on Feb. 20, 1943, in Plymouth, Ind. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1992.
She was a bookkeeper at Albrecht Grain Co. from 1961 to 1984. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maytown, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, Poor Hand Maids of Jesus Christ Associate in Donaldson. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and was active at Catherine Kasper Life Center activities. She was a seamstress, gardener, and enjoyed artistic painting.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Marion) Lowry of Plymouth, Ind., Ruth (Steve) Brown of Harmon, and Mary (David) Gehant of West Brooklyn; two sons, Steve (Liz) Albrecht of Harmon, and David (Nancy) Albrecht of Hobart, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Joan) Hiss of Michigan Center, Mich., James (Janet) Hiss of Michigan City, Ind., and John (Carol) Hiss of Leesburg, Ind.; five sisters, Rose Hamel of Lake Bluff, Iona (Gus) Desautels of Orlando, Fla., Sylvia (Fred) Roehm of St. Louis, Peggy (Doug) McNeish of East Hampton, Mass. and Patricia (Eugene) Hebior of Waukegan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Bonnie Dickson and Martha Schulte; one granddaughter, Katherine Schulte; two great-grandsons, Justin and James Larson; one brother, Robert Hiss; and four sisters, Virginia Root, Jeanette Hammes, Julia Hiss, and Rita Mansfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, with the rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maytown, with the Rev. Richard Kramer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak Cemetery.
