OREGON – Holly Sheley, wife of convicted killer Nick Sheley, has been sentenced on heroin and credit card theft charges.
Sheley, 35, of Oregon, was sentenced March 25 in Ogle County Court to 180 days in jail for selling less than a gram of heroin, a felony, on Aug. 17 in Oregon, followed by 4 years of probation. She received day-for-day credit, and was released for time served.
Charges of selling less than a gram of heroin and selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school or church were dismissed.
She was sentenced Thursday in Lee County court to 180 days in jail for unlawful possession of another person’s credit card. That sentence was stayed, meaning she will not have to serve it as long as she does not violate parole. She also must serve 2 years, 6 months of probation and perform 50 hours of public service.
A felony charge of unlawful use of a credit card was dismissed.
A Franklin Grove man reported his credit card stolen in September 2011. The card was linked to Sheley, who used it to buy items at local stores and online, police said.
She also has multiple convictions for burglary, retail theft, and forgery, dating back to the late 1990s. Most have resulted in short jail terms.
Nick Sheley, 33, was sentenced in January to life in prison without parole in the bludgeoning death of Russell Reed, 93, of rural Sterling. He earlier had been sentenced to life without parole in the death of Ronald Randall, 65, of Galesburg. Sheley has appealed that sentence.
He is scheduled to stand trial this year for the murders of four Rock Falls people. He also is charged in Missouri with the murders of an Arkansas couple. All eight were killed in late June 2008.
