DIXON – Sally Spence, 50, of Dixon, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. She was a secretary for American Surveying Consultants.
Sally was born Dec. 13, 1962, in Dixon, a daughter of Francis and Barbara (Baker) Smith.
Sally will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, which carried her through her battle with her illness and into her final days. She spent many enjoyable hours at the Dixon Public Library and loved a good in-depth discussion about world events. Her memory will live on in the two wonderful boys she selflessly raised.
Special thanks to Dr. Sharma of University of Chicago, whose warm smile, sense of humor, and incredible laugh boosted Sally’s spirits and her will to persevere through her treatment. Her family would like to thank Dr. Kalweit and the entire staff at Serenity Hospice of Ogle County for their wonderful care and support.
Survivors include her significant other, Brent Fetterolf, and her sons, Mitch and Dirk, all of Dixon; sisters, Susie (Pete) Manley of Miami, Stacy (Pat) Love of Dixon, and Starr (Dave) Champion of Chandler, Ariz.; brothers, Steve of Sterling and Scott of Portland, Ore.; three nieces; and five nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents.
