DIXON – James M. Coffey, 76, of Dixon, died Friday, May 24, 2013 at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1936 in Dixon, the son of Francis E. and Helen L. (Whitebread) Coffey.
Jim owned and operated the Friendly Tap in Polo for 27 years prior to his retirement.
He married Sandra Lee Masuhr on Sept. 1, 1959 in Dixon. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 1964. He married Martha Valladarez on May 17, 1968 in Dixon.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Coffey; five brothers, Edward, Joseph, Richard, Timothy and Danny Coffey; and one sister, Patty Friel.
Survivors include his wife; son James (Judy) Coffey, of Polo; three daughters, Karen Coffey, Carol (Steve) Commons, and Christinamercy (Jared Dambman) Coffey, all of Dixon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Neil Coffey of Goleta, Calif., Paul Coffey of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Terry (Esta) Coffey of Dixon; and two sisters, Marilyn Coffey, of Dixon, and Kathy Coffey of Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday with the rosary at 7 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday with a prayer service at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bernard Sehr officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
