Elmhurst police arrest alleged online predator

ELMHURST – A Des Plaines man is out on bond after Elmhurst police arrested him for allegedly soliciting a teen online during an undercover investigation.

Jeffrey Mytnik, 28, was arrested May 29 in the 800 block of N. York Street after allegedly soliciting "indecent liberties" online with an Elmhurst police officer who was posing as a 15-year-old girl, according to a press release issued by Elmhurst Chief of Police Michael Ruth.

His arrest was part of the Elmhurst Police Department's ongoing efforts to detect computer-related crimes and sexual predators.

Mytnik was charged with indecent solicitation of a child, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

He was transported to DuPage County Jail, where his bond was set at $100,000.
