Joe Canady Jr.

ROCK FALLS – Joe Canady Jr., 76, of Rock Falls, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home.

Joe was born June 20, 1936, in Bee Branch, Ark., the son of Joe and Vera (Holland) Canady Sr. He married Jo Ann May on July 6, 1957, in Sterling. He was employed as a pipefitter for Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. for 36 years. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Ryder and then First Student Bus Company of Rock Falls for 14 years.  He enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle and spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Canady of Rock Falls; one son, Timothy (Lorrie) Canady of Rock Falls; one grandchild, Jeremy Canady; three great-grandchildren, Micha, McKinley, and Alanna Canady; three sisters, Veda Hutchison of Morrilton, Ark., Bobbe Sue Nickolson of Conway, Ark., and Carolyn Rose Bradford of Morrilton, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Teri Fortney; two grandchildren, Cory Canady and Courtney Canady; and three brothers, James Ray, Noel, and Elmer Canady.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating.
