DIXON – Dorothy M. Fane, 91, of Dixon, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Life House Liberty Court in Dixon.
She was born June 27, 1922, in West Brooklyn, the daughter of Lawrence and Julia (Jones) Joerger. She married David J. Fane on Jan. 10, 1948 in Mendota. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1992.
She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
She is survived by five sons, Joseph Fane and Donald (Judy) Fane, both of Dixon, David (Denise) Fane of Berkeley, Calif., Tim (Sue) Fane of Rockford, and Charles (Michelle) Fane of San Antonio; three daughters, Alice Shafer and Mary (Hal) Huffman, both of Dixon, and Beverly (Dan) King of Racine, Wisc.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Joerger, Raymond (Kathy) Joerger, Frank (Jean) Joerger and Bill (Gloria) Joerger, all of Mendota; two sisters, Sr. Dominic O.P. and Sr. Concepta O.P., both of Springfield; and two sisters-in-law, Barb Joerger of Mendota and Shirley Fane of Dixon.
She also was preceded in death by brothers Fr. Leo Joerger and Robert Joerger.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. The funeral begins with a 10 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Antoni Kretowicz, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
