DIXON – Sarah Nicole Schnake, 18, of Dixon, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at her home.
Sarah was born Aug. 27, 1994, in Sterling, the daughter of Jerry R. and Venesa D. (Rutt) Schnake. She attended Sauk Valley Community Church in Dixon. Sarah was an active participant in Sauk Valley Group Church (youth group) in Sterling. She also worked at Arthur’s Garden Deli in Dixon.
Sarah’s passion was power tumbling at Saltos Gymnasium in Sterling. She discovered her artistic ability during her junior year at Dixon High School. Art was a time when Sarah was able to express her amazing artistic abilities. She truly was an amazing artist and beautiful young lady.
Sarah’s favorite Bible verse was Psalms 73:25-26, “In heaven, God, I have only you. And if I am with you, what on earth could I want? Maybe my mind and body will become weak, but God is my source of strength. He is mine forever.”
Survivors include her parents of Dixon; two brothers, Kyle (Emily) Schnake of Carol Stream and Aaron (Andrea Crosoli) Schnake of Dixon; two sisters, Abbie (Minister Taurus) Smith of Berwyn and Hannah Schnake of Dixon; aunts and uncles, Leticia and Jim Leffelman, David Rutt, Janel and Jim Apel, Angie and Jim Dudley, Zara and Will Roberts, Kurt and Joan Rutt, Larry Schnake, Kay Schnake, and Terry Schnake; cousins, Sandy, Brenda, and Kenny Rhodes, Matthew, Nathaniel, Emily, and Rebecca Apel, Jensin and Reilly Roberts; two nephews, Kaden Smith and Braden Schnake; one niece, Kaylyn Schnake; and maternal grandparents, Gordon and Irene Rutt.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenton W. Schnake; and paternal grandparents, William Carl and Betty Schnake.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. A celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Dixon Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Andy Minch, Evangelist Taurus Smith, and Pastor Nathan Wilkins, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
