OHIO, Ill. — William L. Anderson, 87, of Ohio, Ill., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.
Bill was born on May 6, 1926, in Princeton, the son of Howard and Lucille (Ioder) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Catherine Clark on July 2, 1944, at the Ohio United Methodist Church in Ohio, Ill. He farmed in the Ohio area during his lifetime and was an avid antiquer. His farm and family were his pride and joy. Bill was a life-long member of the Ohio United Methodist Church and most recently a member of Red Oak United Methodist Church in Walnut, and was on the Ohio High School Board for 25 years. He was a member of the Bureau County Sports Hall of Fame and Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine "Kay" Anderson; one daughter, Karen (Dave) Kuebel of Ohio, Ill.; one son, William J. Anderson of Naperville; one grandson, Lance (Kerry) Harris of Arlington Heights; one granddaughter, Jody (Eric) Cooper of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brett and Tyler Harris, and Makenzie and Jacey Cooper; three brothers, Howard (Carolyn) Anderson of Princeton, Robert (Rita) Anderson of Ohio, Ill., and Richard (Marie) Anderson of Princeton; two sisters, Sue (Joe) Etheridge of Glendale Heights and Sally (Randy) Farrell of Ohio, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Helen Clark of Sublette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Janet Joy Anderson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Judy Giese, pastor of the Red Oak Methodist Church, officiating, and Pastor Katie Voigt co-officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to Red Oak Methodist Church and Ohio Fire Department.
