FORRESTON – Delores Y. Moore, 85, of Forreston, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.
Delores was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Amboy, the daughter of Chauncey and Margaret (Ollman) Welsh. Delores graduated from Amboy High School, class of 1946. She attended Naperville North College. Delores married Robert Moore on May 21, 1966, in Cherry Valley. She was very active with StoneCroft Ministries, serving as an area representative and national speaker for 30 years. Delores also was active with Leaf River Baptist Church, serving the church in many capacities. She was a professional seamstress and sewing instructor all of her working life.
Delores is survived by her husband, Robert Moore of Forreston; daughter, Kim Carlson of Rockford; grandson, Jay Johnson, and brother, Ron (Bev) Johnson, both of Monroe, Wis.; sisters, Maxine (Gus) Voss of Naperville and Faun (Jack) Hill of Punta Gorda, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Pearson and Donna Welsh; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Doug Welsh; sister, Billie Mae Welsh; and stepmother, Fentie Welsh.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Leaf River Baptist Church, 6941 N. Mount Morris Road. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Randy Newton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Finch Funeral Home in Mount Morris is handling arrangements.
