DuPage County sheriff's deputies file lawsuit against Sheriff John Zaruba

WHEATON – A lawsuit was filed Thursday on behalf of seven DuPage County sheriff's deputies accusing DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba of retaliation against them for union support and refusing to fund his campaigns, according to media reports.

Deputies James Williams, Joseph DelGiudice, Stjepan Josic, Mark Wolenberg, Eric Koty, Guy Decastris and Thomas Weiser filed the suit in the U.S. District Court in Chicago. The deputies allege they were demoted or passed over for promotions for failing to support Zaruba's political interest, according to reports.

The lawsuit states that "the retaliation against the plaintiffs continues to this day" and "the substantial investment made by the taxpayers of DuPage County into professional development of these loyal law enforcement officers continues to be wasted."

The complaint seeks unspecified monetary damages, according to reports.
