DIXON – Charles William “Charlie” Bushman, 68, of Dixon, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. He owned and operated Bushman Door in Dixon for more than 35 years.
Charlie was born Dec. 16, 1945, in Amboy, the son of Bernard and Lucille (McBride) Bushman. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He married Sheryl Hartzell on Nov. 26, 1965, in Oregon. Charlie was a member and Eucharistic minister at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon. He was a lifelong member of Dixon Evening Lions Club, and a member of Rock River Restorers Antique Autos, American Legion Post 12, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 540.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Bushman of Dixon; two sons, Brian (Tammy) Bushman of Lake in the Hills, and Brad (Fayth) Bushman of Battle Creek, Mich.; one son-in-law, Wade Bolin, and one brother, Ronald (Janet) Bushman, both of Dixon; one sister, Helen Ann (Urban) Becker of Maytown; six grandchildren, Jordan and Alyssa Bushman of Lake in the Hills, Trevor and Torrie Bolin of Dixon, and Brody and Ella Bushman of Battle Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Julie Bolin; one brother, Bernard Bushman; and one sister, Delores McGuire.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Antoni Kretowicz, pastor, officiating. Burial, with full military graveside honors by the combined veterans organizations, will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
