District 87 extends superintendent Larson's contract

Glenbard High School District 87 Superintendent David Larson will continue leading the district through the 2018 school year after his contract was extended last week.

The Glenbard High School 87 Board of Education on April 8 approved extending Larson's contract through June 30, 2019. Larson's original contract was set to expire on June 30, 2015.

District 87 Board of Education President Rich Heim said Larson has helped advance the goals of the district's strategic plan, including preparing students for college and the global work force.

"We are pleased with Dr. Larson's performance the past two years and believe he is a strong fit for the Glenbard community," Heim said in a district news release.

Since he took over as the district's superintendent in 2012, Larson has been instrumental in assessment literacy training, professional development related to the state's new teacher's evaluation process and efforts to prepare students for post-graduation through more rigorous coursework.

"It's a privilege to continue to serve the staff, parents and residents of the Glenbard communities," Larson said. "We have a great school board, talented staff, a strong leadership team and amazing students."
