Marilyn Anderson

SHEFFIELD — Marilyn C. “Mary” Anderson, 84, of Sheffield died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Marilyn Spratt was born March 16, 1930, in Sheffield, the daughter of William and Ollie (Steel) Spratt. She graduated from Sheffield High School. She married Thomas Anderson on Oct. 12, 1958, in Sheffield. He survives.

Mary had worked at the Village Café, Sheffield, and later at Farmers State Bank of Sheffield.

Mary was a member of H.F. Hortz American Legion Auxiliary, Sheffield, and enjoyed volunteering at the LaSalle Veterans Home. She was an avid Santa Claus collector and enjoyed going to the casinos. She also enjoyed her morning coffee ladies and loved her nieces and nephew as if they were her own children.

Survivors include her husband, Tom; three nieces, Mary Jo (Bill) Rosenow, Pat Stier and Linda (Mike) Oredens; seven nephews, Jim (Willy) Hewitt, Tim (Robin) Hewitt, John (Joni) Stier, Mike (Deb) Stier, Steve (Marcie) Stier, Tommy (Susie) Anderson and Greg (Lin) Anderson; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ollie Stier and Katharine Hewitt; a niece, Edwina Stier; a nephew, Gene Billings; and her foreign exchange daughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Borgenton.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the Sheffield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Krost officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in the Sheffield Cemetery.

A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services in Sheffield.

Memorials may be directed to the Sheffield Rescue Unit or LaSalle Veterans Home.
