ROCKFORD – Judith Elaine Butler Kemper Erickson, 73, of Rockford, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at her home.
Judy was born July 1, 1940, in Dixon, the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Zopf) Butler. She married Jefferson Kemper on Aug. 3, 1958. She later married Larry Erickson on Nov. 12, 1994, in Dixon. She was a member of First Evangelical Covenant Church in Rockford and had a strong faith in God. Judy loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, animals, and nature. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time with her special pet, Charlie.
Survivors include her husband of Rockford; one son, Dr. J. Mark (Sonia) Kemper of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; two daughters, Elaine Kemper of Oak Park and Dr. Lisa Perino of Sterling; one stepson, Steve (Sherril) Erickson of Roscoe; one stepdaughter, Valerie Pausche of Texas; her stepmother, Marilyn Butler of Franklin Grove; one brother, Don (Pat) Butler of Lee Center; one sister, Mary Bennett of Franklin Grove; four grandchildren, Natalie, Ethan, Frankie, and Angelina; and four stepgrandchildren, Ron, Grace, Meghan, and Brian.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no visitation. Private graveside service will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements,.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Judith Erickson Memorial Fund to be used for the betterment of animals and animal shelters.
