HINSDALE – Lori Halligan and her team at the Hinsdale Humane Society may have been a little tired Monday morning, but their enthusiasm and excitement were sky high after a successful Pet Walk fundraiser.

"We actually ran out of T-shirts, but that was a good problem to have, so it was a fabulous day," said Halligan, the executive director of the Hinsdale Humane Society.

On Sunday, the society hosted its 25th annual Pet Walk fundraiser and walk-a-thon at Katherine Legge Memorial Park, raising XX,XXX at the largest annual fundraiser hosted by the organization.

Halligan said that while last year's weather affected attendance and fundraising, she couldn't ask for better conditions this year.

"I know we had over 500 people there, so could not ask for a better experience," she said.

An abundance of entertainment returned this year, including Frisbee catching dogs, K-9 police dog agility demonstrations, as well as pet contests with prizes for best dressed pet, best pet tricks and a pet look-a-like category. There will also be a petting zoo, pony rides and carnival games.

"I know folks who really had a great time," she said. "People were having fun, dogs were having fun, it was just a great day."
