GOSHEN, Ind. – Phyllis Whitney, 88, formerly of Dixon, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen.
She was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Coleta, to Ralph and Stella (Bush) Pyse. She married Roy Whitney on Feb. 2, 1946, in Oregon. He died in 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Jim) Dague of Goshen, and Becky (Lance) Walter of Amboy; a son, Tom (Kathy) Whitney of Bloomington, Illinois; six grandchildren, Erin Griffin, Erica (Brad) Nugent, Liz (Brian) Wogoman, Nathan Whitney, Jessica Walter, and Matt Walter; and 10 great-grandchildren, Cameron Griffin, Caleb Griffin, Kedzie Griffin, Whitney Nugent, Tristan Nugent, Lincoln Wogoman, Smith Wogoman, Whitney Wogoman, Spencer Wogoman, and Everett Walter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Raymond Pyse; and four sisters, Genevieve Fritz, Louella Wagenecht, Ravina Pyse, and Bernadine Canfield.
She was a lifetime resident of Dixon and a member of St. James Evangelical Congregational Church in Dixon. She worked in the billing department at KSB Hospital in Dixon.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Burial will be at Lighthouse United Methodist Church Cemetery in Oregon. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen, Indiana, is assisting with local arrangements.
