Ladd Farm Mart opens

LADD — Ladd Farm Mart has recently opened its doors in Ladd.

Jared Simons, general manager, said the business located at 400 N. Main Ave. in Ladd, sells and services ag and outdoor power equipment. and has parts sales and service as well.

“There was a dearth of equipment dealers in the area,” reported Simons as to the reason for opening in Ladd. “We feel we have a good product offering and will serve this area well.”

A new 3,600-square-foot building was built on the land purchased in Ladd by the company, which has been based in Streator for almost 50 years.

“This is the first expansion of the company,” said Simons. “We were coming up to this area many times for our customers, and since Snook of Peru went out of business, we felt this would be a good location.”

The company’s president is 86-year-old Clinton Peters, who retired from Allis Chalmers after working there for 40 years, the grandfather of Simons.

“He (Peters) still goes to work every day,” added Simons. “We are a family run, three-generation business.”

Ladd Farm Mart is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
