WEST CHICAGO – During an Art Share on Saturday at Gallery 200 in West Chicago, artists Earl Weber and Bill Hochmuth demonstrated how to turn a piece of wood into various objects, both functional and decorative.

Using a high-speed lathe, the gallery members shared the step-by-step woodworking process. Weber and Hochmuth have a combined 50 years of experience shaping and sculpting wood on a lathe.

Wood turning on a lathe is one of the oldest known ways to shape wood, according to a Gallery 200 news release.

The gallery, 200 Main St., is open noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
