BOISE, Idaho – Pamela Anne Chamberlain was born the first of six children to Anna Lou and Rodney Chamberlain on Nov. 18, 1946, in Morrison.

As the eldest of five daughters and her younger brother, she was like a second mother to the other children in the household. After graduating from Sterling Township High School in 1964, Pam pursued a nursing education at SwedishAmerican School of Nursing in Rockford. She would complete her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, magna cum laude at that University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.

Pam met her husband, Geoff Fernow of LaPorte, Colorado, in 1980. It was their delight to be united for the rest of her days. Vanessa Linnea was born in March of 1982, and Todd Rodney in 1985. Pam enjoyed the blessings of her family, decorating her home, making friends, travel, gardening, the outdoors, and her cats.

As a registered nurse, Pam practiced in Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Boise, Idaho, in clinical, administrative, and long-term care positions. Her calling was assisting the disadvantaged with encouragement, education, and professionalism. As nursing supervisor for the Terry Reilly Boise Clinic, Pam cared for the homeless and indigent without healthcare resources. She finished her nursing career by running the employee clinic for Federal Occupational Health in Boise.

Pam faced the diagnosis of ovarian cancer with a resolve to recover, relying on the love of her friends and family and trusting in her Lord. Last year, Pam learned that cancer would take her life. On Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, Pam passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her sister, Sandy; her husband, Geoff; her daughter, Vanessa; and her son, Todd.

Pam also is survived by her mother, Anna Lou Chamberlain of Sterling; sisters, Luann (Mark) Chamberlain of Phoenix, and Rosemary (Russ) Whitaker, Cassandra Meiners, and Eugenie (Pedro) Olalde, all of Sterling; and her brother, Joseph (Sue) Chamberlain of Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Pam’s memory.
