WYANET — Carol E. Swearingen, 79, of Wyanet died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born March 6, 1935, in Kewanee to Claude V. and Lottie O. (Robinson) Stabler, she married John Albert Swearingen Sept. 4, 1953, in Kewanee. He died Feb. 7, 2009.
She was a 1953 graduate of Neponset High School. She worked at Prairie View Nursing Home, Princeton; was a bank teller for Amcore and Citizens State Bank, Wyanet; and was a farmer's wife.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Swearingen of Wyanet and Jay Swearingen of Wyanet; one daughter, Cherie (John) Kittle of New Braunfels, Texas; two granddaughters, Angie (Terry) Summers of Yorkville and Ryane (Brandon) Barton of Plainfield; five great-grandchildren, Ben, Nate and Luke Summers of Yorkville, and Meryn and Piper Barton of Plainfield; and three brothers, Dr. Gary Stabler of Mentor, Ohio, Lee (Mary Jane) Stabler of Kewanee and Larry (Karen) Stabler of Neponset.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Wayland "Bud" Stabler; and one sister, Shirley Pickering.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Marvin Claassen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home.
