La Grange restaurant to host 3-day Oktoberfest

LA GRANGE – A family friendly Oktoberfest celebration will be held in downtown La Grange later this month.

Nicksons Eatery, 30 S. La Grange Road, will host a Harvest Bash from Sept. 25 to 27. The food and drink fest will feature gourmet Oktoberfest-themed draft beers, food and live music for diners to enjoy.

Chef Nick Baca will feature a gourmet sausage plating, which includes a sampling of smoked duck sausage with apple brandy; weisswurst, a traditional Bavarian sausage; and kasekleiner, a lightly smoked sausage with Swiss cheese. Baca’s dish will come served with kraut, grain mustard, giardinera and soft buns.

The feast’s menu will also include sticky buns, served with crisp pork belly, maple glaze and beer cabbage, braised beef chili, served with bacon onion relish and brunkow cheddar, as well as, smoked duck flatbread, which will be served with hatch green chili, Vermont cheddar and bacon jam.

Harvest Bash doesn’t end there. Diners can also choose from the pear and hickory smoked pork bibs with house BBQ sauce, andouille sausage hash cake and beer cabbage, or the Nicksons High Country Elk Patty Melt, dry rubbed and served on rye with brie, quick kimchi, spicy aioli and chili-dusted fries.

The three-day Oktoberfest celebration will also include a limited batch of Oktoberfest draft beers, such as Revolution Oktoberfest and Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest.
