Mackenzie K. Holcomb

STERLING – Mackenzie Kay Holcomb, 13, of Sterling, left the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014.

Mackenzie was born Sept. 30, 2000, in Sterling, to Edward Stastny Jr. and Torie Holcomb. She was a loving daughter and sister. She loved unicorns, hanging out with her friends, and listening to music. Mackenzie was known for her silly personality. She was a very loyal friend who always was there for the ones she loved. Mackenzie loved the saying, “I’m a unicorn, I don’t believe in humans.”

Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Michala Holcomb and twin sister, Madisen Holcomb; one brother, Ian Holcomb; paternal grandfather, Edward (Susan) Stastny Sr. of Nelson; maternal grandparents, Walter and Janice Holcomb, both of Sterling; maternal great-grandparents, Paul Cheshire Sr. of Sterling and Joyce Curtis of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Gretchen.

Services will be private. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
