CARPENTERSVILLE – Police have a person of interest in custody following an apparent stabbing inside a Carpentersville residence that killed a middle-aged woman Monday night.
Carpentersville police on Tuesday didn't say whether the person of interest has been charged. They declined to reveal the identity of the person in custody.
The victim's identity is still being withheld, as police continue to try and notify the woman's next of kin.
Carpentersville police were called at 9:54 p.m. Monday to 127 S. Lincoln Ave. in Carpentersville for a report of a disturbance, police said.
Upon arrival, officers learned a neighbor heard a disturbance, went to investigate and found a middle-aged woman resident with what appeared to be stab wounds. Police said the woman was dead on the scene.
The official cause and manner of death has yet to be determined. A call to the Kane County Coroner's Office for comment was not returned Tuesday.
Police said a broader threat to the public doesn't exist since the incident appeared to be a domestic issue.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Carpentersville police on Tuesday said they will continue to provide updates later this week.
